  5. i have a nest of 4 penguins my first ones i have brednice healthy chicks all complete with cracking tear marks does anyone know if these can moult out or have i just bred some naff ones one thing i have noticed is the adults seem like cracking feedersregards dave
  6. i would definatley agree that a bird with black flanks has to be the aim,and they are eyecatching and would say only using these birds has to be the way to more consistancyi have seen birds with both black flanks and chestnut flanks and like i said know very little on subject,do you get siblings with different coloured flanks or is a pairing consistant in its offspringalso can black flanked birds be produced from chestnut flankedi am interested as a few years ago i was talking with someone who bred them shortly after they appeared and at the time it was a bit pot luck what was producedhowever with time and selective breeding hopefully things have become a bit less random and more predictable in what is producedgood luck in your breeding efforts with them and hope you breed a few stunners dave
  7. all i would say genetic makeup doesnt stop us producing say dark creams from light creams and heavily pied birds from lightly pied birds ect..although you would hope to produce more of the right type of bird by starting with the right type of birdsdave
  8. i dont know much about non standards so i might be spoutng tripe but,is it not all a bit random and pot luck whether they come out with chestnut flanks or black flanksie black flanked could throw out chestnut flankschestnut flanks can throw black flankslike i say not sure as no expierience with themsorry if ive conffused the topic a bit dave
  9. you can only order via the form suppliedonce your order in rings will be supplied by 6 jandave
  10. If you have eggs now helen you will be cutting it a bit fine depending when they laidIf they have just started laying and not into incubation you might be ok
  11. you should have rings for 6 janpair him now eggs in a week, two weeks sitting and ring at eight or nine days old youll have rings in plenty of time mate pair while hes up for it and pair up a pair to put eggs undermaximum yeild from a top bird the more you breed the more you can sell me next year good luck whatever you do with him paulhope he breeds some more good uns for youregards dave
  12. if hes fit and ready to go i would pair him up to another hen, fosster the eggs out and then re pair him in a couple of weeks to the original hen after she has weaned the young one matedave
  13. very promising paul well done.looks to have every chance of being a belterhope you breed a few more from the pair materegards Dave
  14. hi chrisby normal/cfw i mean a normal cock split for cfwregards the black cheeks i have no experience with these or any of the non standard colours but am sure someone on here will advise you of expectationsgood luck with them mate
  15. hi chris regards chestnut flank whitesyou want birds with as dark a markings as possible and these are the birds that should do well on the showbench, not easy getting good colour and size into the bird but i guess thats the challenge.the colours range from very light birds to dark and you see a difference even in nestmates but by using the best coloured ones you can improve the colour, however in my experience poor colourd cfw never produce good coloured offspringnormal/cfw are very usefull in putting colour into a line however and i have used these with sucssessregards Dave
  16. i have never bred off a yellow beak but seem to produce one or two every couple of years you rarely see them at shows or when at other breeders birdrooms but the odd one keeps cropping upi have this nightmare where i breed 100 of them one year Dave
  17. not trying to be wise after the event or clever mate but she didnt look the most robust of chicks in the photos, thats why i didnt commentprobably due to being an only chick they rarely are the most robust, that said it had obvious head quality and if you can get a full nest of youngsters i am sure they will be big strong healthy birds with plenty of vigourgood luck mate and keep tryingDave
  18. was it an only chick pete?or did it have nestmates
  19. Mark don't forget the pair you got off me are siblingsSo would pair the fawn cock to lback hen if you are trying to breed some yellow beaksDave
