Looking To Start With Combination Mutations

Hi Paul, I would suggest that you try to make the welsh ZFS area show on the 2nd of September, it is in Barry comprehensive school, so not too far either, there will be all varieties of zebs, of top standard too. A great eye opener. Wayne. -

Picture Of Lightback Breeder Pair
Keri and Wayne Davies replied to Keri and Wayne Davies's topic in Lightback
Hi mark, never underestimate how much of a challenge it is for all exhibitors, in getting the the birds in the right show condition, catching the birds when they are not in the moult , getting the birds used to the show cages and matching the pairs, but for me u can't beat being at a zfs show and seeing what's on show, Wayne. -

Hi mark,Mostly normal fairly dark lightbacks, but struggled last year to bench good matched breeder pairs, this was because nearly all my youngsters last here were from lightback cock / cfw hen pairings, the problem with this was all of last years cocks were much lighter than the hens and split cfw. Trying not to use many cfw hens this year to try and keep them from going too light.Wayne.

Thanks Mark, look forward to it.

Just to say hello, a new member to the zebra finch forum, from Llanelli, in south Wales, i'm Wayne Davies (D377), between me and my dad Keri, we keep lightbacks and chestnut flanked whites, Cheers all.

HI Mark, we are champion breeders, from Llanelli, South Wales, been at it since i was a junior 20 years ago, my dad and i show lightbacks and cfw's as a partnership. also keep the odd normal or two.

Cheers for your comments, it is 1 st rung chick of season, i've got about a dozen lightbacks so far but thats from about 16 pairs , paired up since end of november. My dad, Keri, concentrates on cfw's, he's got off to a simular start, the breeding season always seems to pick up in april, so early days i suppose.Wayne.
