  1. Hi Lee welcome to this forum. Did you want to come and build me a bird toom like yours?
  2. Well done Chris. He looks a top bird. Does he have any brothers and sisters?
  3. I've put down 18 pairs some of ehich haven't done anything and some have had 2 rounds
  4. Here's a couple of photos of two hens I've bred this year. I reckon they are a cream LB (with a fawn cheek cock to the left and) the other photo is a fawn light back hen. I'm about to be ringing my 100th chick in the next few days and I reckon it's time to call time of this years breeding season! I hope other breeders out there are having successful seasons as I have. The next difficult task is trying to decide which to keep and which to let go!!
  5. Here's a photograph on my recently fledged fawn cheek youngster and its brother or sister which is a fawn. This is the second nest from this mating (Fawn Cheek cock to fawn hen) and I'm really pleased with the youngsters. The beak is so short on this one and I'm hoping its a hen for me to show with its older brother
  6. Your lad sounds like a character. Creams are my main colour and I've also bred lightback creams and fawns this year.... all planned. Silvers have been rubbush for me too. Still trying for fawn lb cocks from one particular pair. Your welcome to visit anytime cheers Jon
  7. Nice bird kieron. How is you or your lad getting on with silvers? Would be good to come visit and see you and your set up sometime if that's okay cheers Jon
  8. Hi Gary great news its the least I could do to show my appreciation for the excellent hard work you do keeping the forum up and running. Post a picture of them.... id love to see the youngsters. Cheers Jon
  9. They look very smart clare. I've got my first fawn and cream light backs fledge recently too. I'm watching them daily to hopefully spot a cock bird colouring up!
  10. I've bred a cream from a silver cock which had a fawn parent cross to a lightback hen. Was a total surprise but it looks like it'll be a nice bird. Not sure what use it woll be for next year's breeding
  11. The silver cock was bred from silver male and lb hen. The cfw is more interesting. Shes actually a cheeked cfw bred from lb cock to cheeked cfw hen that I bought from Trevor 3 years ago! I'm hoping for some silvers from them. Fingers crossed dave that they produce my best silver!
  12. Thanks for that Paul. What other colours are likely to emerge?
  13. In the absence of a normal hen I'm considering putting a silver cock to a cfw hen. Mindful that some breeders mate light backs to cfw. Any views? Jon
  14. Hi mel welcome to the forum. I'm just across in Nottingham so not far away! Like you I have other pets as well as zebs! Cheers jon
  15. Hi gaz I'm just up the fosse in Nottingham! Welcome to the forum. Cheers jon

  17. Pics opened ok today. Lovely coloured bird. I'm getting more and more interested in these dilute mutations. Thanks for sharing Jon
  18. Hi clare after reading your post was looking forward to seeing the photos but they won't open!
  19. Thanks for that little lesson Paul. Might try for cream cheeks if I have a spare breeding cage next season
  20. I know Adam 7 is pretty incredible hey! The hen was daughter of a cheeked cfw hen from Trevor that I'm keeping as a foster hen if I dont breed from her. I was more amazed when all 7 turned out to be cocks!
  21. Hi adam- not sure if this helps but this year a fawn cock mated up with a cfw cheeked hen in one of my flights. They reared 7 chicks four normal cocks and 3 grey cheeked cocks. Do you know the parents of the grey cheek cock?
  22. Hi paul do you think that they'd throw fawn cheek and cream youngsters? I wondered if the cheek might cross over in any creams bred-cream cheek?
  23. Has anyone tried this mating? If so what results did they get.

    My Favourite Fawns

Thanks for the comments. I think she might be the best fawn hen I have bred to date- she is still quite young so might bulk out more as she matures. A couple others I really like have faint ghost male flankings which is sods law! I try and photograph my birds and keep albums each season so I can look back and compare and contrast. My birds seem to be getting more fuller in their body and head each year.

    My Favourite Fawns

Thought I'd share a couple of pics of my favourite fawns that I have bred myself. Its father and daughter the cock being 2012 and the hen 2013. Looking back on previous years photos I have taken I can see improvements made, especially with head quality.
