  1. Thank You Aspen and Tremuth. I was a bit confused about the BB stuff but Aspen has cleared that up by saying the black is rendered down silver. Think I might have a problem getting an Isobel or split Isobel hen for him. Anyone got a hen that could be picked up from Stafford in March? Thanks again guys. Andy
  2. Thanks Andrew. I know there are some members who keep these and we would like to find out about suitable hens too.
  3. Now that Andrew has planted a seed I googled Isobel and got a photo of our bird. With the photo and description given by efinch I believe the bird to be a Florida Fancy. Anyone with this type of mutation at all?
  4. Hi all, Saw this cock bird in a pet section of shopping complex (Trago Mills) and we would like to know what it could be. It has orange frosting on the wing feathers, No Chest Bar. Real vivid cheek patches and orangy speckling on top of head. It's quite pretty to look at. (wife) Three photos attached. Looks a bit soggy due to the fact he escaped as we were transferring him to a cage and he fell in dog's water bowl. Thanks for looking. AndyN

    What An End To 2014

Emmy, If only we could view both egg photos at an investigative size at the same time it would be good. I got a little cross eye'd flipping between them but there is certainly a difference between each. The second one seems to be a lighter colour in the content. i.e. looks like the yoke at least. There is definitely a squiggle which could be blood veins etc. Are you also candling it with a torch to visually see the growth/changes? Good luck.
  6. Hi Mark and welcome to the forum. You could try the Members Map at top of the forum. If any members from your area have put their location on the map you should be able to view their forum user name. If so, go to the search box at the top, make sure 'Members' is the topic selected and enter the Forum Name. Click on that name if it appears and it will take you to that members profile page where you can see a section which says. 'Leave a message' When you do that, the message is left in that persons Forum 'In Box' and also he/she is emailed by the Forum system. So they can get back to you. Hope that helps. Cheers Andyn
  7. Welcome to the forum Rolf. 30 years is quite some time. That's 28 more than me. Enjoy!! AndyN
  8. Sorry I missed it Trevor. no excuse. Hope you had a nice day. I hadn't seen your photo in C&A until Emmy's post pointing it out. Nice one! Andy
  9. Sounds Interesting Trevor!
  10. Nice one Emmy.. You haven't given away your recent process so I'm having to deduce that the Red is a heat source, so you have a 'Hot Spot' in centre (ish) of egg and the shells are also radiating heat. And if I remember from helping with original project the Blue in the green was also hot spots and it was confirmed Fertile.
  11. Emmy, You've heard the expression' Why Keep a Dog and bark your self' so the zebbies probably say ' Why keep a Cockatiel and Talk your self'
  12. Emmy, You should get BC Pied and BC White. But I paired white to pied early in the summer and got 6 Pied (5 hens and one cock) Not one white. I think marking eggs is the best way, that way you will know which egg is clear. If you candle them now and any show fertile they will probably be the early two. Andy
  13. Hi Melanie, and welcome to the Forum. When you said splayed claw did you mean the foot/leg or is it a back claw that goes forward under the foot when perching. (Slipped Claw) Anyway, Enjoy the forum. AndyN
  14. Welcome to the Forum Cliff. Andy

    Big Surprises

I believe that the chicks will be 100% BC but like you said they could be any colour too. That will be interesting. I bred a BC to a hen carrying BC they had 5 chicks, all hens and not one of them BC. I know the hen was BC carrier because I bred her.
  16. Very Nice!! Jon,in the last photo these birds look a bit darker and cock's marking is clearer. Are they still Cream or bordering Fawn?
  17. Hi Zottan and welcome to the Forum. That's a nice collection of birds you have. I expect they keep you busy. Anyway, enjoy the forum! All the best. Andy N
  18. Welcome to the Forum. That sounds quite a mixture of birds you have there and like so many of us also do. Ask away and enjoy the forum. Andy
  19. Hi Dave, and welcome to this great forum. The only daft question is the one never asked. I keep and show whites too. (also Pied to go with them), Normals and CFW. Enjoy!! AndyN
  20. Welcome to the Forum JW. There are a lot of members who have come back into keeping birds and Zebras specifically so you are not alone. Enjoy! AndyN
  21. Hi! and welcome to the forum. The Normal cock has lovely colour to his flank marking. At a guess I'd say it was a Normal hen too. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the forum as much as I do. AndyN
  22. Hi Lisa, Sorry to hear about your hen bird. Your male will probably bond closer with you now, but if you want to get him a friend you could try going on to the members map button at the top of the page and see if there is anyone in your area who might be able to supply you with a young hen. Or post your request on here but state where you live so if there are members close they could contact you. Give it a go. AndyN
  23. Welcome from one to another, the forum and back into the hobby. Enjoy!! Andy
