Well i never knew that.......go and check my aviary now.....I always believed isabel surpessed the black.

isabels don't have tear marks. BB don't have tear marks. So I am at a loss to understand how these young do have tear marks. They in aviary with other birds though?

Its great when they all get along. Good story Emmy. I have witnessed a canary hen in nest with young zebras and have watched the male canary feed the hen canary and in turn the hen canary then fed the young zebra's. I was fascinating to watch. Scott

The only chance of fawn chicks would be if any of the males were split for fawn......which could be possible but you may not be able to distinguish the split. Scott

Hi Tony There is a bird auction every Thursday near Wigan.......not always zebras there but I believe it gets busy so it maybe worth a trip to check out and maybe get chatting to other bird lovers for advice etc etc. Clipley pet shop in Haydock sometimes has exhibition size Zebs in also! Scott

Agree with Andrew. Many mutations are possible with penguins, but I feel the the beauty of the penguin is often spoiled by mixing it with other colours. This is not to say that I would not put them in a mixed aviary...I simply mean that the mutation is best visually pure in my opinion and probably why its one of your dads favourites, As mentioned earlier, penguin is recessive......if all your penguins did pair off with other mutations then the young would carry the gene...... and if these young carrying the gene eventually paired up then there would be a small percentage that could turn out full penguin. very deceiving picture....is it grey or fawn.....deffo not normal grey or fawn as no tear drop....could mean isabel, could be split OB or maybe both but not LB. I'm on the fence!

I would agree with clare I think......so the OBBB pair are both split for isabel and the Male split for Fawn........so the fawn baby is a Fawn OBBB Hen???? and the isabels will be obbb also. Possibly. lol.

looks to me like a BB/Ob. You would need at another bird to be split OB to have any chance of creating a full OB. Scott

all grey side have black beaks.

the perfect black cheek will have black flanks.....normal flanks would be considered a show fault. Scott

I agree with tremuth on description.....suggest a phaeo hen for him. There are plenty around. Shouldnt have a problem finding one.

The black cheek pied could be fawn maybe....lighting could be affecting pic tho. The light back male will probably be split cfw. The black face black breast looks like he has a bit of pied in him. And I think they are fawn hens.... but like sarah.......im not 100% Scott

Hi Just thought I would share what is effectively my first full BC Fawn birds. The Hen is a decent size and has a good strong BC. The cock I am not 100% sure of yet. It is not as 'fawny' looking as the hen so I am wondering if LB could be involved. Aviary bred so parentage not 100% sure. Suspected parents are a normal grey cock and fawn/BC hen. If parents are correct then the grey cock is split bc and fawn but its well hidden!
