Beautiful looking bird!. I want 1!!! Scott
-
The full family!
-
Hoping this is a young male and the BB in it will give this bushy crest a Orange hat look. Also got potentially a crested phaeo and normal phaeo in same nest even though gentically this does not work.
-
Black breast usually do not have a tear drop.....split black breasts have thinner tear drops generally. I cant see a tear drop on your bird but the tail does not suggest 100% bb so im a little confused.....other more experienced members may help.......Welcome to the forum. Scott

Deffo a young male colouring up!. You'll soon hear it attempting to sing! Scott
-
The parents.....from an aviary full.....were a cfw BC cock and BBC grey hen.......no hint of pied in them but you never can tell for sure in aviary.
-
Love this bird. Not sure of parents as it has come out of aviary. Not really got any visually pied in aviary either so its a keeper. Deffo BC by the way...other side of bird has a good Half of BC but could not get it to turn around for photo. lol

I was puzzled by the cheek......show fault maybe......but stunning bird!!

Hi all Anyone have any picks of young BB OB? I am curious what a youngster would look like. Thanks Scott
-
Think it would be all normal looking grey's split for all the other mentioned colours. Scott

Welcome to the forum lee. Think I have communicated with you via facebook!. Anyway, this forum is by far the best for finding information and getting great answers from very knowledgable and friendly people. I am learning a lot from people on here! Your set up looks excellent. Scott

Thanks for the info Clare. The fawn has got the white wing feather to suggest pied I think but would BB not be involved? There is deffo no white near beak. 1 more pic below. The tail on the the 2nd bird looks like bb but it also looks like it has a tear mark. Agree 3rd bird lightback but fascinated with strenght of tear mark??
-
Unsure about the colours of these. Parents were BFLB/CFW/BB cock x Fawn BB crested hen. (I Think) There is 1 more in nest yet which is a little behind these 3. Looks like a cfw.

Hi Faracat No need to try to take that photo for my benefit. I am by no means an expert on colours. Merely fascinated and trying to understand the genetics involved. :-)
-
I would guess it is a pied zebra as second pic looks like a cream coloured/grey beak? Great photos.... Suggest last pic should enter the photo comp! Scott
-
Lovely birds but surpised with colours from pairings you described. Do you have pics of parents? Scott
-
Im up the road from you in Wigan! Welcome to the forum!

Hi Guys Some of you may have seen this bird (male) under another topic but I am interested in more opinions on what colour this actually is in your opinion? Thanks for looking, Scott
-
Wow. What a beautiful surprise from such a pairing. personally, I think this could be a phaeo (FF,BB) but a lot more people on here will give you better explanations! Isabel and FF is a little complicated though but based on your descriptions, you seem pretty clued up and have pretty much explained everything yourself ;-) Scott

Think there is a chance of /BC with the hen. Not sure about fawn cheek though.....Was sort of thinking maybe LB for the cock pied bf.??? Got them for a fiver each. ;-) Scott ps. Am I correct in thinking it would be better to split these 2 BF birds up? 2 x dominant genes???
-
Just won these 2 birds at the auction. Both BF to add to my mixture of colours. Its a grey hen but a bit of a mixed bag for the male? Any suggestions?
-
Hi Emmy I have read your posts with regards to your 1 BC. I was gobsmacked that neither parents showed any visual signs at all but can understand it. My hen was a full black cheek. The male is only split but they always seem to create BC youngsters! Scott
-
Nice size cheek patches on these 2 young uns I think and dad is only a split BC.
