  1. Chris, Look good birds there mate, well done, If you don't think you get a lot of zeb's and this is the second lot you've turned up with, you ought to live where I am it's like being in a desert for zeb sales, Don't know if it's the flash or not but are two of them BCLB's ? Even so well done, Trevor
  2. Paul, In the aviary I have two more BF's a fawn and normal types, both have white underparts. The normal is no where near as dark as the one we're speaking about. Trevor
  3. Dimitri, No need to be sorry, I take on board what you've said and I find it interesting, I'll keep an eye on him and we'll see what happens, He's not cage bred so I don't know the parents, if he was cage bred and neither parent is BF then I know that melanism is the cause, Thanks again for your comment, Trevor
  4. Clare, Thanks for posting photo, Yes I do like him, that's the first one I've ever seen, With the dark patches it takes away the fawn colouring, but when you match him to the hen his body colouring matches hers, All the best with the breeding of them, Keep me posted please i'm interested in them, Trevor
  5. Sheena, Welcome to the ZFF, hope you enjoy your stay on here, Trevor
  6. All, Here's another couple of photo's nearly 3 weeks further down the line of my BF Normal, Front shot is just a general view, but the other shot (I now his head fell off ) is to show you all how dark he is and you can compare him to the Normal grey on the photo, The flash is still lightening him up a bit, but he's the darkest zeb I've had by far, He's darker than both of my male triple blacks, Trevor http://i1177.photobucket.com/albums/x343/trm03/IMG_7753.jpg http://i1177.photobucket.com/albums/x343/trm03/IMG_7751.jpg

    Fawn Bc

Clare, Having not seen a male of this type, does he have black flanks or std chestnut colour ? I hope you succeed in this line as it would be an interesting project, I will help where I can, but knowledge is limited with this mutation, Trevor :-)
  8. Chris, Welcome, hope you enjoy your stay on here, Trevor

    Fawn Bc

Clare, Nice one, not to many BC fawns about, only ones I've seen have all been hens never a male. Even the two BC fawn pieds I got out his season are both hens. Let me know if you manage to breed a male of this type in the future, Trevor
  10. Chris, My hunch she's got BB, When BB goes into CFW, the CFW kills the black, so I think it's a BBCFW Fawn Pied. Trevor
  11. Ali, Nice hens you have there, I think pastel is to do with silver, not 100% on that, Thanks for sharing, Trevor
  12. Chris, Yes and between her eye and beak part the way up her head. Trevor
  13. Saltrock, I agree with Chris, 2nd pic normal, 3rd pic the one with the vertical stripes is a Blackbreasted and it's with a Blackface. Trevor
  14. Chris, The light coloured zeb, could be a CFW Fawn BB pied. If you could check the tail to see if it has vertical or horizontal stripes, but they will be faded ones so looking at it's tail might not be easy. The male I reckon is a BCLB, (once again fawn could be involved) Trevor
  15. Dan, On face value yes, but from an aviary ??? I'll use him next year and we'll see, Trevor
  16. Hi, It's a female chestnut flanked white, Unless she's a regular to your garden it will be hard to catch, if she keeps coming just make sure there's food and hopefully you can get a bit closer each time, All the best, Trevor
  17. All, Checking my aviary and spotted this chap, he's a youngster still in his moult. The pleasing thing is how black he's gonna be, although the photo has toned him down he is a very dark bird all over, Really black around the lores against the beak, You can just make out that there is more black to come on his breast. If you look closely, right at the top of his leg you can also see black feathering, He's aviary bred, one for 2014 breeding list I think, Thanks for looking, Trevor http://i1177.photobucket.com/albums/x343/trm03/IMG_2295.jpg
  18. Kerry, I'd swop a crested for a BB normal pied, How's that then ? Have you got hens in this ? Trevor
  19. Chris, I was actually paired up to try and get one, so not bad really it worked out 12.5% = 1 in 8 eggs on a average. No is the answer to that, the pied gene can lay dormant for ages the suddenly unbeknown to you another zeb might have this dormant gene as well that's when it's activated again. But it will not show visually, so for ex if you bred a normal pied x normal = 100% normal split pied (not visual) but take note which are split and which are not with what you do. Hope this helps Chris, All the best, Trevor
  20. Dan, Thanks for comments. Chris, 5 in total, BC fawn pied, Pure White, 2x BCCFW pieds. Trevor
  21. All, Had to share this pic of my new BFBC Pied male, still hasn't fully moulted out but he's gonna be good, Parents are BFBC pied x BCLB pied they've had two broods and he's from the second one, Also another thing i'm pleased about is the flank markings, once again there black so i'm gradually eliminating this Comments welcome ! Trevor Enjoy !!
  22. Josh, Happy birthday mate, have a good day (fishing) ? Trevor
  23. Scott, At the moment it's deffinately a cfw and it also looks a BB as well. I know it's early days but can you see if it's got horizontal or vertical stripes on the tail. Trevor
  24. Scott, What colour is the beak of the one in the corner please ? Trevor
