    Pair Of Normals

Hi Dan Sound like your cock from the breeding pair is split CFW this can mean if he produces some cock chicks they may or may not be splits as well, with the cock being split he can when paired to a Normal hen produce both CFW hens and Normal Hens. 25% Normal Females 25% Normal Males 25% Chestnut flanked white Females 25% Normal/Chestnut flanked white Males Paul.
  9. Hello Neil and welcome to the forum. Paul.
  10. Hi Emmy When your getting into the realms of fawn x cfw and cfw x lightback it gets a little more complicated with what colour you get as you found with your CFW X Fawn pairing you would think the cock would of been either CFW or Fawn but nope they come out Normal split both colours instead, you then also get the random effect of crossing over which can combine the likes of fawn and lightback or fawn and cfw together. Paul.
  11. Hi Emmy Yep you got it but if the hen were a fawn CFW your may get fawn CFW chicks too if crossing over happens as I understand it. Paul.
  12. Hi Emmy You can get Normal/cfw cocks but not Cfw/Normal cocks as Normal is dominant to CFW so if a Cock has CFW only on one chromosome and Normal on the other it will display the Normal colour. Hi Josh you can get Fawn CFW's in both Cock and hens that i'm aware of as the mutations become combined through the random occurrence of crossing over. Hope this helps Paul.
  13. Hi All I haven't bred many OBBB's so far this year but here's one i like the look of and thought I would share with you as I know Trev likes them. Paul.

    Red Eyes

Hi It depends if the black eyed Zebra finch is split for red eyed as this recessive mutation work the same as other recessive mutations. Paul.

    Red Eyes

Hi There are two forms of zebra finches one with red eyes and one with black eyes the black eye colour is dominant to the red. Paul.
  17. HI Emmy All your chick should be split for OB. Paul.
  18. Hello punky You should split up the pair and try giving the cock some vitamin E in his water such as http://www.supapets-online.co.uk/bird_supplements/quiko_vitamin_e_liquid_100ml.htm Then after a few weeks repair. Paul.
  19. Hi If your cock was bred from a Normal black cheek X Normal black cheek and your sure of this it could be your silver Black cheek cock is a Recessive silver and not dominate as is found in the uk normally now, that or one of his parents is a dark silver bird. Yellow cheeks could it be a dark lightback ?. Paul.
  20. He looks to be a Blackface. paul.
  21. Hi Normal/CFW, Fawn cocks Fawn hens Paul.
  22. Hi There Mr finch Sure looks like a silver black cheek. but the bottom bird im not sure if it is a cock looks like ahen to me could be wrong mind. Paul.
  23. Hi Kerry This young Normal cock has a large amount of Eumelanin this is a colour pigment in the feathers of the Zebra finch and is responsible for the greys and blacks in the birds colour, the birds above has a lot of this pigment and is quite a dark bird once it molted out it looked as below. Paul.
  24. Hi From the pictures posted this hen just appears to be a CFW i can make out faint cheek marks but not very well . You do get birds which sometimes show cheek marks but are not infact a cheeked mutation. The chick above looks to be either Split BC or Bc but is infact just a normal. Paul.
