  1. From my local pet shop No way I was leaving without him, Most of mine are pied but this has to be my favourite colour, they are so attractive.
  2. My Bengalese are busy feeding all the zebs chicks they can find at the moment, plus sitting on eggs of their own in the aviary (7 Bengalese in the aviary sharing duties) They are taking fostering to the next level, this is my latest addition, he is very handsome.
  3. Thanks Emmy, They do love a bath now Even feeding themselves sort of at less that a week fledged.
  4. Here they are all fledged, just had their first ever bath Only the one Silver
  5. Oh Dear Looks like your Mum is trying to replace you with a plastic toy At least she gave you a crisp, maybe lay off the Hiya jokes, and there could be more treats?? Keep practicing on the speech you'll soon get there
  6. Thanks Trevor. A quick update, only 5 surviving now. Not sure on the colours yet, but hopeful for at least one silver, the rest look to be normals, and not a cream or fawn in sight now. Should have a much better idea next week on the colour, and even better I have a week off comming up, which is when they should fledge. This pic was taken yesterday, they are starting to show feathers, and are starting to grow very quickly now, but a very dark looking nest now colour wise. Might get some nice BF normals if I'm lucky.
  7. Happy Birthday Sarah Hope you have a great day
  8. Happy Birthday Allan, have a good day
  9. That's a real shame, looked like he would have been a real stunner. Hope the other one makes it, he looks pretty good to (been snooping of face book) Keep us posted. Clare
  10. Here's the first pic of the newly hatched chicks from my BF Pied Silver Male x Fawn Hen There was 7 eggs 6 have hatched, the 7th has also hatched since taking the attached pic. Really looking forward to seeing what happens with these.
  11. Hi Trevor, He's very dark, and gorgeous. Will be a stunner once he has coloured up Do you know who the parents are? Hope he makes it for you, please post pics once coloured up. All the Best Clare
  12. Hi Martin, That's fantastic that you used to do that for unwanted dogs Hope you birds keep doing well for you. Clare
  13. Don't let it get you down, sadly it does happen often for reasons unknown. To say I had a bad week with by birds last week is an understatement, but on the other hand there was some good points as well, just concentrate on the good bits, and it gets a little better Hope your green hen comes through for you and you see some chicks soon.

    Hand Rearing Birds

Glad I could be of some help Good to know Shadow is still doing well.
  15. Awwwww, I want one, Thats so cute. Shame the other egg didn't hatch for you, Speedy would have had a friend, although he seems to be doing well with Ted, just make sure Ted doesn't lead him astray
  16. Its so small, I can't believe they are self sufficient when born Hope the other egg hatches for you
  17. Hi Mark, Welcome to the Forum. What Birds do you Keep?
  18. They certainly are Ugly, when young Looking on the Dino side of things maybe a Raptor, wouldn't want to mess with one nice and bitey
  19. Now that's more like a pic I would take all blurry I really don't know who you do it, all that patience with feeding and the the weening Must be very rewarding, maybe one day I will have that experience
  20. You must be holding them to ransom to get them to stay still for a pic like that Tosh looks very happy though so maybe bribery? Hope they carry on as well for you, good luck with them. ( If I let my dogs near any of my birds they would eat them, can't catch a rat that's right in front of them though)
  21. Oh Dear more bitey things, you must have reached Zoo status by now Good Luck with them!
  22. Wow didn't know that, I was looking at Quails when I first put the aviary up, but never got them. Good job I didn't due to my rodent problems I have had, but when the new aviary eventually gets built they will be catered for. So good to know, from your experience what to do, another reason to hurry up and get it built Sadly won't be completed this year, my garden is a bog so no work can be carried out until it has dried out, need a nice hot summer And I have had an horrific quote for a base £3.5K, don't think so some how. thats almost my entire budget.
  23. Sounds familiar, some of my zebs are egg thief's, I have caught them red handed. Despite having egg food ect. I do have a plan in place to try and give the doves a bit of privacy, when they are ready, but knowing my luck they won't nest there As for the hotel being full, well thats another story, I still need a male yellow canary and possibly two red canaries, depending on the one I have just bought, but the initial signs are good. Poor Canary ( yes thats her name she answers to it as well) is still rather lonely the yellow male I got likes the other female seen them feeding each other, so on the hunt for another male for her. I will get it right one day
