Could there be Pied White in the breeding somewhere? Andy
-
Ha Ha!! This is what makes this forum so great! Nice looking set up Lee. Andy

Lee, The reason I asked was that if you aviary bred you would have no control and the different types would cross over and it's possible you might loose track of who's who's parents. But if someone is available to advise you locally that would be good. My mentor lives 45mns away but I can phone, email and visit for advice etc. Andy

Lee, Are you going to cage breed or aviary breed with those birds?? Andy
-
Hello again. If you can see the chicks look to see if any of them have broken skin colour. (white and grey) these would more likely be Pied. Andy

Welcome to the Forum Niajetze. That was both a happy and sad story and well done on the hand feeding. (I know all about that) Enjoy!! Andyn

Will the Fawns be Cocks or Hens? Fawn and CFW are sex linked and mostly on the Cock's genes. Grey is dominant and would produce grey chicks with cocks split for Fawn. That's an assumption that your Greys and potential Fawns are 100% pure. Andy

Hello Chanty and welcome to the Forum. From your photos those birds look pretty good. I'm not into any of the mutations but I know that Orange Breast don't have tear drops so I think Black Breast is the same and it doesn't look like a Penguin either. Other members with much more knowledge of mutations will no doubt let you know I'm sure. Don't be worried about asking questions and perhaps we will see you enter our monthly Photo competition. (just drumming up business ) Enjoy!!

Hello Ben and welcome to the forum. A lot of us on here have other types of birds too and with all that bird keeping experience I'm sure you will be able to help answer questions. Enjoy!! Andy

Welcome to the Forum Abadi, I'm sure you will enjoy being a member and there are lots of experienced people who can help out if you have questions. So- 'Just ask' Where is 'BAH'? I'm not too good with place names and such. Cheers Andy

Nice one Kareem, Whites and Pied are my favourite so guess who I voted for. Look forward to next instalment. Andy

I have been choosing my show hopefuls today and I've noticed that the second round of CFW chicks don't seemed to have moulted out yet despite regular spraying and bird baths. Also 2 CFW hens from a Normal pair are just as slow too. This is reducing my show options a bit. Has anybody else got same problem? & Do earlier hatched chicks (Jan/Feb) normally moult out quicker than their later siblings? Thanks Andy

This chick is going to be called 'Hudini' because I opened the cage door to hang a bird bath and it was out like an Excocet missile and was flying in and out of the bird room into safety porch and back in etc. I have hopes for this one in next seasons shows.

Kareem, there seems to be a problem opening your photograph, Andy

Welcome chill, I don't have any of those types, but good luck with your goal of triple. If you have any photos you like of your birds, please feel free to enter the photo competition. Send to- andrew.nethercott@mypostoffice.co.uk (it's just for fun) Enjoy the forum!! Andy

My first thought was looking at the beak it is a White. My white chicks have that colour beak too. Are the parents carrying Pied do you know? Andy

There is a site as below which might help you and there is a book called 'Keeping and Breeding Zebra Finches' by Chris Blackwell (you might get a used copy from ebay). I believe there is a http link to breeding expectations and results but I'm afraid I can't recall what it's called. Hopefully someone will be able to tell you. http://www.efinch.com/varieties.htm Andy
