Hi From Cambridgeshire.

Recommended Posts

Hi my name is Roy,

I have with great help from a mate of mine just built an avairy. Will post pictures when complete.

I have a massive collection of birds consisting of 1 greenfinch and 4 zebra finches.

My aim is to have a nice collection of birds consisting of canarys and finches who will live together in reasonable harmony.

If they breed that will be a bonus.

I have no experience of keeping them hence joining this forum.

I am going to read the posts over the next few weeks and take in the comments posted.

My mate has a fair amount of knowledge so he is a great help.

Regards

Roy.

Roy,

Welcome to the forum and hope all works out OK with your plans.

I must ask a question about the Greenfinch though- Is it captive bred and close rung? I only ask, as you said you have a limited knowledge of bird keeping and you wouldn't want to be 'Knocked' by RSPCA.

Don't want to scare but it's worth bringing to your attention.

Anyway.. Enjoy!! it's a great hobby.

Hi Andy,

It's captive bred and rung, got it from local bird auction, one of the organisers.

Definitely don't want to go down any dodgy route.

Went and see Steve this afternoon, very pleasant person, gave me some good advice.

Regards

Roy

Thankyou Steve & Emmy,

Just fitted the steel enclosure inside, made by my neighbour over the road, he made a first class job of it.

I will post pics of the birds later, I'm hoping to pick up a couple of mates for the goldfinch over weekend.

I've become attached to the little white finch, out of them all he is the first to come over in the morning.

The goldfinch has started singing during the day so the must be happy.

Thanks again for your comments,

Long way to go to get a collection anywhere like yours Steve.

Thank-you Clare,

Sorry for the late reply been very busy.

I have added a few canaries with the finches, they all seem happy together.

It's nice to leave the work and sit out listening to them.

Regards

Roy
