If I'm reading correctly and the Penguin isn't carrying the Pied Gene you should get Normal split for pied and penguin Cocks. AND because the cock is a CFW which is sex linked you should also get CFW hens which could also carry Pied and Penguin. I'm sure others will help out. Andy

Hi, Does the chick with white underneath have white just under it's chin and are there any white flight feathers? I was wondering if it might be a LB Pied. I have bred 3 this year and 2 of them looked a bit brown. Andy

Yes!! Happy birthday Gary and thanks for all your hard work for us. Enjoy!! Andy

Lee, Sorry I don't know much about Stafford show but if you go on to the ZFS web site it is listed there with the date I think. Clare, Thanks. As far as I know the Hen is not split for BC. Mum of both is from a CFW cock to Normal hen in 2013. But I bought them in late 2012 via a third party. I've looked at brothers & sisters and they have ordinary size tear marks. I'll have to check with my Mentor in case it's a show fault too. Cheers Andy

Thanks Emmy, I'm not ready for BIG shows just yet. I'm planning on showing at the South Western ZFC, hopefully the ZFC Club show at Weymouth and about 4 local CBS type open shows. I'll review how far I go (show size) after the first 2 shows I think. Andy

These are a pair from second round of the family referred to in my earlier post with a single Cock. Need to get them moulted through and hope for some size before show time.

Hi Saeed and welcome to our forum, You are in the right place to find all the information about Zebra Finches. Hope you enjoy your new hobby as much as I do. Andy

Hi! The book says that tail in both sexes should be ' Black with white bars' (that's for Normal and Fawn) Andy

Hi, I think you have White Pied and normal Pied. (My kind of mutation) The first photo looks like it might be 'Grizzled' White. I have one bred this year with the 'Grizzle' from shoulder to shoulder. Are all the parents either visual Pied or Pied bred.?? Andy

Many of them Jon. Hope you have had a good day. Enjoy the rest of it too. Andy

Lee, Thanks for comments. The smaller beak is, I believe, a feature which has evolved with the showing side. When I started with Zebies about 19 months ago I bought birds via a third party which had this feature. (normals mainly) I paired CFW cock to a normal hen and produced CFW hens with the mother's type of beak. Last September I bought 2 CFW cocks from Wane and Kerri Davis which also had the smaller beaks, paired these up with my home grown CFW hens, so feature is maybe set now. Cheers

Thanks Gary, I have hopes for this as part of CFW BBE show team. I wasn't too sure about the colouring though. Fingers X'd Andy

Thanks Lee, The first CFW round it was 2 cocks to 1 hen. the next are still to show properly but there is at least one cock who is just showing flanks. Other nest two cocks to one hen Others have been 2 out of 2 normal cocks and 1 cock to 2 hens. Pieds were 2 cocks to 4 hens and a one cock to 2 hens. A friend asked me the same question because he has bred a lot of cocks this year. Cheers

This year so far I have bred 11 CFWs. 7 from a true pair, 2 from Normal split cocks and 2 from a pair of Normals. Here is pic of one of the two cocks from the first round of the true pair. I think there is potential and just hope I get at least 1 hen to match for a BBE show pair this show season. Andy

Welcome to the forum Lee, I enjoyed reading your 'story'. There are quite a few of us that kept birds previously and then after a break came back. Good luck with the shed too. Andy

Hi Mac, Welcome to the forum. I'm not into all the mutations but wish you luck with yours Andy

Kev, How old are your birds that are making the nest? If they are old enough they could be going to nest proper, Sometimes nests are made as roosting site though. Keep a lookout for eggs usually 6 days+ from pairing. Good Luck!! Andy

Tracey, Welcome to the forum. I think you should have a bigger cage built because I think you are 'Bitten' and will have loads of birds eventually. (Plan for the future) Enjoy!!!! Andy
