  1. Sorry to hear you have lost one of your birds Daisymay. Don't let it affect your feelings towards our hobby, though I know it can be a bit stressful. Even after 20 odd years I get a little sad when I find a chick or even adult that hasn't made it. There is a saying- 'If you have livestock you'll have deadstock'. All the best and 'chin up'

Oh Emmy, keep this coming please.
  3. As always Emmy.. I love your stories about all your animals and birds.. This is just great and good video too. Keep it going Bobby, I'm sure you'll get her trained one day
  4. Thanks Emmy, I'm also quite surprised at how the colourations differ between the 9 of them.I have one with dark wings which stands out a mile. I have a feeling that there is OB in the mix too.
  5. Here are some of the Isabel chicks from the first round. Not show birds but for the Garden Aviary .
  6. Happy Birthday to one of our 'Newbies' Have a great day Adam. andyn
  7. Hi Konstantina, and welcome to our Forum. I like your birds (they are the types I keep too) Look forward to seeing your entries in the photo competitions we hold. andyn
  8. Welcome to our Forum Adam. Ask as many ?? as you need. You'll find every one on here willing to help I'm sure. I have also replied to your second post. Enjoy!!!! Andy
  9. Andy, As a rule of thumb I would agree with that, but there is always an exception in my experience. Are you finding that this year you are breeding more cock chicks than hens? My ratio is about 2:1 with Normals and CFWs. Whites are about equal & Pieds are a bit small yet.
  10. OK Mark, Just a coincident then. Two chaps from Somerset came and bought some CFWs. All the best and enjoy your birds. Perhaps we'll see you in the Monthly Photo Competition soon. AndyN
  11. Hi Mark, Welcome to the forum.. I have a feeling you came to me with your brother last Friday. Andy from Exeter
  12. Hope you have a lovely Birthday Michael. Enjoy!!!
  13. Happy Birthday Andy.. Hope you've had a good day. Andyn
  14. Hi Martin and welcome to our Forum Andyn
  15. Hi, Could you use the sand bought for Chinchillas? But your idea of soft dry kiln sand sounds a good alternative and you might think about Silver sand too. I know other members like Emmy have Quail so I expect they'll be better placed to say. Andy
  16. You can also buy Private rings from the manufacturer- try http://www.ringco.co.uk/sizeinfo.html Welcome to the Forum by the way. Andyn
  17. Thank you for your thoughts and best wishes all. I did have a lovely day but too much cake I'm afraid. Had some ££ for present so bought a touch screen android phone, now I'm joining the 21st century but cutting callers off by swiping the wrong way. Thanks again Andy
  18. This month's competition email folder is open so if you would like to send up to 3 entries attached to an email to me-andy.nethercott@outlook.com Please include your Forum user name in the email. About the 15th of the month I start to post entries in the competition Gallery and then around 25th set the competition proper with the winner voted by you the members announced on the last day of month. The winning photo is displayed on the Forum's home page until the next winner etc. Competition rules are posted in the Photo Competition section. Andy
  19. Emmy, I believe you are correct in saying it is a CFW hen on face value because it has tear drops and whites don't have any. Some Whites get 'Grisling' on their backs. (grey flecking) Andy
  20. Hi Zebrahead and welcome to our Forum. Most impressed with your setup there and I think you are good at photography too. I'll look forward to receiving some shots like those above as entries in our monthly photo competition then. Enjoy your birds and ask away with any questions you have. Andyn

  22. Hi beringu and welcome to our forum. Just enjoy your birds and ask any questions you need to and perhaps we'll see photos of them entered in our monthly competition. Andyn
  23. Penny, I tried a similar situation with a split BC hen (that I bred from a BC cock) paired to an unrelated BC cock and got 5 chicks with non being BC. I don't know what the laws of probability are but I was quite disappointed. I think you can only be certain of producing what you want by pairing both visual birds. Good luck. Andy
