thankyou for your replies, i thought i had done something wrong to cause her death but her breeder assured me it was nothing i did wrong and that sometimes this sort of thing happens.

i have lost my yellow fife hen to going light, it was very upsetting to watch and i never want to go through that again, my green hen has started laying eggs again but i am not getting excited this time, this bird keeping hobby can be very stressful cant it.

thanks emmy, yes i have the same type of cage and i have seperated them and they are going nuts at each other through the wire!!! i will try them again tomorrow.

as some may know i do not have any zebbies yet but i do have two pairs of fife canaries. one hen has had her second lot of eggs, and yet again they have not hatched, i was so looking forward to having chicks, i have done everything by the book and the breeder has offered to swap them for some others, but i am very fond of them and dont want to part with them. the other hen hates her partner!!! i was thinking of swapping cocks around, should i give it a try ?

went away for a few days with son in charge, came back to find 3 broken eggs at bottom of cage ,even though there was nest pan in her cage. she is now starting to make nest in pan, so here is hoping.
