Hi Nick, I Have a fawn male with similar cheek marking, whose parents are full BC & Split BC. Was the cheek patch black as a chick? mine was and only showed the orange after a moult, I have yet to test whether full or split. So could have BC in him, either way a nice zeb. Clare

Hi Trevor, Another good unplanned result. I am also using plastic nest boxes this year, a lot easier to keep clean. cannot wait to see fully coloured up. All the best Clare

Really nice chicks, two of them look to be BF creams? Or would that be the OB in them creating the same colour between the beak and tear mark? Anyway, they are gorgeous

Is It The Scottish Weather ----Or Is It Just My Birds?
Clare L commented on Emmy's blog entry in Emmy's Blog
Hi Emmy, Nice to know your birds are causing all sorts of mischief & mayhem. Keep up the blogs, they can be very informative as well as funny, especially this one. Hope they sort it out soon. All the best with the mayhem. Clare -
Hi All, Hope you like the attached. The Pied chick in the middle is a gate crasher from another nest, which has produced some rather cute pied chicks. The attached are Cream & LB Silver Chicks (Possible DF) ( Mum & Dad Are both Silver ), plus one normal/LB. Silver Hen x LB Silver/Fawn Male ( chicks are aviary bred so no guarantee ). They are due to fledge in the next couple of days. http://s880.photobucket.com/user/Claretrx7/media/19052015%20001_zpskrpevjm1.jpg.html?sort=3&o=3 Either way really pleased, with them. Clare P.S, I do know the danger of breeding dominant to dominant, these are aviary bred and they paired themselves. This is not something I would pair normally.

Hi Emmy, Can you post a close up of the tail, as it looks to light be just fawn. Are there three colours in the tail ? Clare

Hi Krissy, Have attached some pics of BC Fawns that I have bred, for you to look at. As Andy has pointed out getting good check markings is very hard, I have also found that they might not show at all, but will still be full BC. The Black gene does act quite strangely with Fawn and can be quite unpredictable on how the zeb will colour up, the BC fawn also loses its fawn colouring slightly making the overall appearance lighter. http://s880.photobucket.com/user/Claretrx7/media/new17062014009_zpsd9f1230f.jpg.html?sort=3&o=330 http://s880.photobucket.com/user/Claretrx7/media/new17062014012_zps70eaf45a.jpg.html?sort=3&o=327 http://s880.photobucket.com/user/Claretrx7/media/new12042014chicksLB032_zps8a60927a.jpg.html?sort=3&o=349 http://s880.photobucket.com/user/Claretrx7/media/new12042014chicksLB018_zps60739923.jpg.html?sort=3&o=352 Hope you like. Oh Dear!! That would be such a shame If you have any split BC's try and put a few of them with the full BC's, I have found the size and colours are better this way, especially with fawn BC. Good luck with them Clare
